How could we lose
Both the sun and the moon
The cool summer rain
Winter day still
River’s calm whisper
In the flow of the dao
Crane’s graceful wings
Tortoise gaze within
Bereft in our sighs
Lungs thicken with pain
We want to ask why
Why, oh why, this one
Vase suddenly shattered
In clamor, in haste
Then earthquakes and thunder
Chaos takes reins
Yet somehow kind soul
With her stillness and peace
Caught the red sunset
Her reflection within
Sun and moon are replaced
By a pearl in the sky
Above highest peak
A polestar on high
Hearts warmed by her fire
Lungs sip a fresh breeze
She is now our teacher
Tranquil without end
